Hi everyone! Welcome to Autumn (nearly!) I hope everyone has had a great summer and spent as much time outdoors as possible. I just returned from 4 days in Herefordshire, camping and it was great to be out in nature. This is just a quick update to let you know about my offerings for Autumn into Winter.
I’ve got new classes on offer, as well as my privates/semi-privates at my lovely home studio in Norwich, Cat House Yoga on Friday’s 10am and if you fancy something a little spicy, head on over to HotPod Yoga where I teach on a Tuesday at 5.30pm.
I hope to see some faces as well as new beginners on the mat again soon!
Ashtanga for everyone!
I’ve had a fair few emails recently asking me if I am teaching/offering Ashtanga classes. After a significant break from teaching regularly, I’ve decided to dip my toe back in and will be offering an Intro day with a beginners introduction and a modified Primary series practice for returners/improvers. As well as this I’m going to be teaching 2 further led classes in October. All at Happy Ohm Studio in Norwich.
Details are as follows:
Sunday 1st October.
10-12pm Beginners Ashtanga workshop
An introduction to the practice of Astanga Vinyasa Yoga. Come and learn the practice from the beginning, or refresh if you are a bit rusty!
This dynamic form of yoga comprises of a set sequence of postures linked together with an audible breath (Ujjayi). The dance-like quality of the movement, combined with specific-looking places (drishti) and internal locks (bandhas) produces an intense experience of a moving meditation.
Returners welcome. If you are a bit rusty and want to brush up the foundations again this one is for you. Handouts included.
2 hours. £20
Suitable for total beginners to the practice although some yoga experience is helpful.
2-4.30pm Primary Series workshop
Primary Series workshop. This workshop will be a combination of practice and unpacking some of the more challenging parts of the Primary Series. Rather than flow all the way through, we will be stopping and investigating ways that we can approach some of those weirder bits, where you get all pretzled up in a knot, making the poses more accessible. We may also look at techniques for jumping back and through.
Suitable for those with some experience of Ashtanga or with an established yoga practice.
2.5 hours £25
Both workshops together £40
Open classes for Autumn
Coming up for the Autumn term. I’m adding to my current teaching schedule. As well as my Tuesday HotPod Flow class, I’ll be offering two Ashtanga Primary led classes in October and four R & R sessions (Rocket and Restore).
The Rocket is a playful reimagining of the Ashtanga Vinyasa series' 1-3 but is accessible to all, offering jump-off points to arm balances, inversions and other fun transitions.
Following this strength-building practice we will sink into bolsters and blankets for a quietening and balancing Restorative yoga sequence. You know it makes sense! R & R. Come and grab some!
October 6th, & 13th Ashtanga led class
November 3rd, 10th Rocket & Restore.
December 1st , 8th...... Rocket & Restore
Cost: Single class £12. Book 2 or more classes and get 10% off! use code ABBYTEN at checkout
Where? Happy Ohm Studio
Private/Semi Privates
Why not treat yourself to a private? Or bring a friend and share the cost. Together we can look at any aspect of yoga you would like to, or practice a specific style. I offer the following
Restorative yoga
Supported entirely by bolsters and using other props like blankets and blocks, restorative yoga is ideal for those who are recovering from illness or injury or who just want to experience deep rest. Restorative yoga is accessible and a fantastic antidote to the stressors of modern life.
Rocket yoga
The Rocket yoga method aims to make the more challenging poses of the Ashtanga series accessible to all levels. Sequences encourage a fun, playful, yet strong and invigorating yoga practice. Rocket helps get you to a place of strength, flexibility, and stamina quickly, teaching you the art of modification and how to link breath, bandhas and movement to create flight.
Astanga Vinyasa yoga
Astanga Vinyasa classes are centered around six series of sequences, including sun salutations, standing and seated & finishing poses and meditation. Repetition of the same asanas is designed to purify both the body internally and externally creating a moving meditation designed to quiet the mind and strengthen the body.
Vinyasa Flow yoga
Vinyasa Flow originated as a varient of Astanga and includes many familiar asanas. Focused on pranayama breath work, this fluid and dynamic style emphasises the flowing movements and transitions between postures. Classes are often accompanied by music.
Cost: £70. A private can be shared between two people…
I teach privately on a Wednesdays. I look forward to working with you.
