Practice with Ella: Rocket, Dharma-inspired Vinyasa, Deep Stretch and Inversions
Norwich workshops June 9 & 10th
I am very excited to welcome Ella back to Norwich for another set of workshops. If you want to take your practice to another level or just dip your toe into something different you are welcome!
Ella Tighe is a Bradford based independent dancer and yoga teacher. She began practising Ashtanga Yoga with Ervin Menyhart 10 years ago and since then yoga has sat beside and around her dance practice. She undertook a 200 hour traditional Ashtanga apprenticeship teacher training with Ervin Menyhart and has taken further teacher training in Rocket and Mandala Vinyasa through The Yoga People Tripsichore and Mark Kan (Dharma inspired). Her classes are challenging, detailed and technical whilst also being fun and giving time for students to find their way with their unique bodies through the practice. She works with students 1:1, mainly those who wish to advance their practice and learn new techniques to apply to their practice.
Friday 9th June 6.30-8.30pm
Rocket
Prepare to fly & float through a Rocket practice!
Rocket, created by Larry Schultz was built based upon the primary & intermediate Ashtanga system – it is designed to get you there faster, making ashtanga a little more accessible! In this workshop we will go through a creative Rocket sequence – expect arm balances, transitions, handstands & core! Ella will break down specific transitions and poses of the Rocket practice for you to test your edges and discover new ways of moving through your practice.
Saturday 10th June 10am-12pm
Vinyasa - [Dharma Inspired]
A Vinyasa practice that draws from Ella’s unique experience of the several teachers and practices she has been exposed to over the years. There will be elements from the Dharma Yoga lineage as shared from the practice of Mark Kan.
Expect: many backbend variations and transitions, handstands, pincha variations and challenging balances.
Saturday 2-4pm Deep stretch + Inversions
There are many foundations & exercises that are often not part of a yoga practice yet are required for you to develop your flexibility & strength for specific poses. In a Vinyasa based yoga practice you are likely not to spend enough time simply stretching beyond the typical 3 -5 breaths.
We will work into deep hip openers, backbends and hamstrings.
We will also focus on building strength and correct alignment for inversions, Ella will share some transitions and variations of the standard inversions poses for those who are ready to take their practice further.
Students will need:
Yoga mat
2 x yoga blocks
Yoga strap
Dharma wheel (if you have one!!)
Venue: Happy Ohm Studio.
