Summer days
Hello everyone! I hope you are well and have had a lovely summer break. I’ve been taking time out, enjoying the great outdoors (Pic of Paddleboarding at Horstead Mill) and enjoying a fabulous camping birthday weekend with friends and my beloved (in the Antigua baseball hat in case anyone wondered!).
But now I am back in the swing of things and wanted to let you know about upcoming classes, ongoing classes and guest workshops I’m helping to host in the next few months.
Getting into the Hot Pod
Since the launch of Hot Pod Yoga Norwich in June, I’ve been teaching a weekly class as well as doing cover. It’s an intense sweaty experience but I am loving being part of a yoga community again and helping people either start their yoga journey or maintain a regular practice. The style is vinyasa flow and is suitable for all levels. Hotpod is a welcoming place, right in the heart of the Castle Quarter and there is a great introductory deal, £15 for 2 weeks unlimited yoga. If you want a discount on other membership deals use my code ABBYSWEATS20 for a discount! I teach a regular class on Tuesdays at 5.30pm

Saturday October 8th 2.30 - 5pm
Workshop 1. Mandala Vinyasa + Inversions
Mandala Vinyasa is a practice which is based on the geometric pattern of a
Mandala. The practice flows 360 degrees around the mat, working through multiple directions and perspectives. Mandala is based on the 4 elements; Earth, Water, Fire & Air and each connects to a different system/muscle group of the body. Usually, a specific element will be practised on a specific day in relation to the Mayan calendar.
In this workshop, we will explore the Mandala Practice as a whole – delving into the fullness of the practice. You will learn to detach from your need to be facing forwards and embrace the circular motion of the mandala. We will explore each element through short sequences and break down the different components of the practice.
We will look at aspects of this practice which make it unique such as pulsations, inversions and its 360-degree directionality.
As Mandala traditionally does – the workshop will begin and end with yin poses to encourage your body to soften into this soft and fluid practice.
Inversions play a large part of Mandala – with moments for you to experiment with getting upside down. In the middle of this workshop, we will have a brief breakdown of the classic inversions – headstand/pincha/handstand - & ways that the Mandala flows can allow you to enter into them differently.
Sunday October 9th Workshop 2 10-12pm The Rocket!
The Rocket, created by Larry Schultz was based upon the primary & intermediate Ashtanga system – it is designed to get you there faster, making Ashtanga a little more accessible! In this workshop we will go through a creative Rocket sequence – expect arm balances, transitions, handstands & core! Ella will break down the specific transitions and poses of the Rocket practice for you to test your edges and discover new ways of moving through your practice. Prepare to fly & Float!
Sunday 9th October Workshop 3 1-3pm.
Deep stretch/conditioning; inversions, backbends & splits
There are many foundations & exercises that are often not part of a yoga practice yet are required for you to develop your flexibility & strength for specific poses.
In this workshop, Ella will guide you through a series of yoga-based body conditioning exercises that will help you build the action in the body which contributes to inversions like pincha mayurasana (forearm stand) headstand & handstand. We will work on holding these poses and training your body to become stronger within them to increase your endurance and ability to be within inversions.
We will then move into deep stretching techniques; specifically for backbends& splits.
Important info!
